24horas - Portuguese Daily Newspaper is the first and only Portuguese language daily publication in North America.

24horas is distributed in the New Jersey / New York / Connecticut tri-state area, and employs a national mail subscription service, to serve the Portuguese, Brazilian and Luso-african communities of the United States. Our editorial coverage includes local coverage of the Portuguese and Brazilian and Luso-African communities in the our distribution area, as well as headline coverage of the U.S., Portugal, Brazil, Angola, Mozambique and Cape Verde, and we deliver the latest news with unsurpassed graphics, engaging our readers with targeted content that ranges from local to international coverage, from politics to sports to entertainment, and more.

Our History

24horas - Portuguese Daily Newspaper was established in 1998 via a partnership between a small group of local investors and the Portuguese media group, Prodiário S/A, which at the time controlled the 24horas title. Since that time, due to various media reshuffling in Portugal, 24horas - USA has been affiliated with Lusomundo, PT Multimédia and is currently partnered with Controlinveste/Global Notícias.

In February of 1999, 24horas made media history by becoming the first Portuguese language publication to publish news content in Portugal and the United States on the same day. Benefiting from the time differential between Lisbon and New York, 24horas utilizes the latest communication technologies to continue to achieve this feat.

Since its inception, 24horas adopted the tabloid format, and a modern layout and design, where big headlines and images facilitate the interpretation of the text. We cultivate constant interaction with our readers through our numerous contests and initiatives, which have involved sports, education and community philanthropy.

24horas has even inspired competing publications in terms of formatting, design and editorial vision, which has served to confirm our guiding slogan from 10 years ago: "One day, all newspapers will be made this way..."

Objective

24horas aims to be the strongest Portuguese language publication in the United States, hoping to continue to merit the trust and respect of its readers, advertisers and sponsors. It aims to reach the homes, offices, cafés, restaurants, supermarkets shops, clubs, associations and computer screens of hundreds of thousands of Portuguese speakers in the United States.
